Rooms within the working Town Hall form part of the museum and house a fine collection of civic treasures. Visitors can tour the imposing Council Chamber, Mayor's Parlour and elegant Assembly Room, which was restored in 1990 to its former 18th Century splendour.
On the second floor is a delightful gallery, overlooking the historic market place. The fine art collection on display includes a variety of paintings, drawings and sculptures by local and international artists such as William Nicholson, Stanley Spencer, Robert Kiddey and William Cubley. Art lovers can also enjoy the Spotlight Gallery, which houses a broad range of exhibitions by local artists and community groups.
